Tracking Mary: Mysteries & Messages Vacation Bible School

TM LogoMark your calendars for Vacation Bible School June 26-30, 2017 in the mornings!  This year’s program entitled Tracking Mary: Mysteries & Messages, features the Queen of Heaven Express – a special holy train traveling to faraway places around the globe visited by our Blessed Mother: Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe, England, and Ireland.  Children discover how Mary brings us closer to Jesus through the power of the Rosary.  Mysteries and Messages are revealed at each stop.  The program focuses on Catholic identity and teaches the Bible from the Catholic perspective.  It introduces saints as faith heroes and heroines while encouraging family prayer through a daily Rosary.  Children will enjoy skits, activities, snacks, and games.

Registration forms can be found below or can be picked up in the church office.

If you are interested in helping out with this Vacation Bible School, please contact Judy Holt in the church office, 282-6367, or email at judy.holt@stmarysjc.org.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Cathedral Dedication Stone

The Children’s Faith Formation students learned about the Cathedral Dedication Stone in class on Wednesday night.  It was quarried from property in East Tennessee and representing the much larger cornerstone that weighs over a ton, was blessed by Pope Francis in the presence of Bishop Richard Stika and Cardinal Justin Rigali.  It was blessed in Vatican City by the Holy Father and is now on a pilgrimage stopping at every parish and mission in the Diocese of Knoxville.  It’s “pilgrimage” began in the “old” Cathedral church, and will conclude in the “new” Cathedral Church on the Solemnity of Christ the King on November 26, 2017.  Then, it will be placed within the Narthex (Gathering Area) of our new Cathedral Church.  Father Peter talked to the children too.

Welcome to Faith Formation 2016-2017!

Welcome to Children’s Faith Formation!  We are excited to have your children with us this year!  We have many exciting things planned for this year.  The children will “Adopt a Seminarian” and pray for them and make them cards.  This will help them learn to think outside of themselves and teach them the love taught in our Catholic Faith.  For a service project, the children will be asked to bring in canned goods for the food pantry.  You will be notified in an upcoming Parent Newsletter when to send those items in.

The calendars for Children’s Faith Formation on Wednesday nights and Early Childhood Faith Formation on Sunday mornings are posted on this website.  You will also find a copy of the Faith Formation Handbook. In it you will find anything and everything you would want to know about Children’s Faith Formation.  It also includes the prayers the children should know at what ages.  Please work with your children on their prayers.

If you wish to volunteer, have any concerns, or have any questions, please feel free to call me at the church office.  Our number is 423-282-6367.  You can reach me by email too.  That is judy.holt@stmarysjc.org.  We are delighted to have you join us as an active and involved member of our Faith Formation Family!
